Individual Professional Development Plan

Directions for Completing IPDP

1.      Provide identifying information.

2.      Describe your goals and how they relate to district and building goals.

3.      It is recommended that you plan professional development in at least three (3) of the five (5) areas listed below:

Ø       Instructional Approaches and Improving Student Learning

Ø       Content Area and Related Teaching Methods

Ø       Classroom Management and Assessment

Ø       Reflective Practice (Examination of one’s own practice and experience.)

Ø       Teacher Professionalism (Active participation in learning communities.)

Consider which of these areas you need to focus on in order to achieve your personal professional development goals.

4.      Examine the Continuing Unit Options. Estimate the number of CEUs you will acquire from each activity.  A minimum of 18 CEUs are required for converting to a license.  The activities providing these CEUs are to be undertaken within the four years leading up to a license, or within the five years needed to renew a license.

5.      Complete the IPDP and submit to your building principal.  The building principal will review your plan with you and forward it to the LPDC.  The LPDC will review your IPDP for approval and notify you of its decision.  If revisions are necessary, you will be asked to resubmit your plan.

PLEASE NOTE: A suggested timeline is to write a new IPDP once you apply for your license renewal.   In this way, a new IPDP will be on file prior to any professional development.
